1. 주제 및 매체
‘물(水)’은 작품의 소재임과 동시에 ‘물’ 속에 응축된 모든 생각을 담는 존재론적 의미로써 물질의 한 부분이다.‘물’은 ‘물아일체’(物我一體)적 관점에서 빛의 에너지 파동과 감각적 인식을 통해 투명함, 무지개 등의 시각적 효과를 주며 자연과 인간 모두를 연결하는 하나의 매개체로써 매질(媒質) 또는 질료(質料)의 역할을 한다. ‘물’을 매개로 대상물을 보는 시각은 주체와 객체의 사이에 존재하는 <시공간>을 해석하는 관찰자의 몫이다. ‘물’을 구성하는 본질은 그 자체로 인간의 본성을 일깨우고 참된 자아를 느끼게 하는 실존의 세계로 볼 수 있다.
물질만능시대에 ‘소통’과 ‘융합’이라는 시대적 화두를 워터스케이프를 통해 제시하고자 하는데, 이는 의미론적 관점에서 작품 속에 함축된 모든 것들을 상징하는 공통의 주체인 물을 매개로 가능하지 않을까.
2. 표현기법
워터스케이프(WATERSCAPE)는 ‘물로써 그린 물 그림’을 의미한다. 전체 화면을 흑연으로 도포한 후에 콤프레셔에 장착된 에어건에 물을 함께 분사함으로써 <그리고자 하는 형상을 ‘물’로 지워가며 화면을 구축해가는 기법>이다. 물은 작품의 소재, 주된 기법, 그 속에 함축된 의미 모두를 담는 그릇이다.
표현방식은 액션 페인팅과 같이 격렬한 동작을 요구하는 작업과정이 특이한데 고도로 몰입된 ‘순간’의 집중력과 상황 포착을 요구한다. 따라서 작품의 결과물 보다 그 순간의 행위가 매우 중요해서 에어브러시와 채색 등의 과정이 점, 선, 면, 곡선을 이어주는 3차원적 파동의 굴곡을 이루며 새로운 표현을 가능케 한다.
3. 제작동기
‘물’의 형상(形狀)뿐 아니라 이 세상 모든 사물을 ‘물’로 표현하고자 한다. 불특정한 불규칙성, 불연속성을 가진 스스로의 고유한 생체 에너지가 파동을 일으켜 무한한 우주의 에너지와 만나는 모든 매개체를 ‘물’이라는 매개를 통해 자아와 타자를 대상으로 삼는 상대성을 가진 존재론적 가치를 인간 실존의 철학적 관점에서 작업하고자 한다.

1. Topic and media
Water(水) is a part of matter as an ontological meaning that contains all thoughts condensed in 'water' at the same time as the subject of a work. 'Water' gives visual effects such as transparency and rainbow through the energy wave of light and sensory perception from the perspective of 'water 我', and serves as a medium (媒質) or material (質料) that connects both nature and humans. The view of the object through 'water' is the responsibility of the observer who interprets 'time space' that exists between the subject and the object. The essence of 'water' can be seen as a world of existence that awakens human nature and makes one feel the true self.
In the age of materialism, I would like to present the topic of the times of 'communication' and 'convergence' through waterscape, but wouldn't this be possible through water, a common subject that symbolizes all things implied in the work from a semantic point of view.
2. Techniques of expression
WATERSCAPE refers to 'a water painting created with water.' It is a technique of constructing a screen by erasing the shape to be drawn with 'water' by applying graphite to the entire screen and then spraying water together to the air gun mounted on the compressor. Water serves as a container for all the materials of the work, the primary technique, and the meanings implied.
The technique is unique in that it involves dynamic movements similar to action painting, requiring intense concentration and the capture of highly immersed 'moments.' Consequently, the action of the moment takes precedence over the final result. The process of airbrushing and coloring creates a three-dimensional wave that interconnects points, lines, surfaces, and curves, allowing for new expressions.
3. Motivation
I would like to express not only the shape(形狀) of water but also all things in the world as water. I would like to work from the philosophical perspective of human existence on the ontological value with relativity that targets the self and the other through the medium of water, in which all the mediums that meet the energy of the infinite universe cause waves of its own biological energy with unspecified irregularities and discontinuities.
